Famous French Quarter hotspot Café du Monde, known for their popular beignet, officially reopened their doors on Saturday after they were forced to temporarily close their doors due to structural issues, according to 4WWL.
The spot was evacuated as crews worked at fixing a support beam located in the building’s attic.
Café du Monde co-owner and President Jay Roman says that they had been planning to repair the beam for some time, but the plans became immediate once the ceiling started to sag back on Friday.
“We are in an old building, as everyone knows,” Roman said. “… (in the attic) it’s all old timber … and there’s not a nail in the attic. It’s all dowel lumber and they were starting to split in one of the timbers.”
Now, locals and fans can head back over to the historic hot spot.
